The Filta team and the Filta franchise partners say “Happy Birthday” to 10 years of “United against Waste” and with that to 10 years of active and successful engagement against food waste.

“In the fight against food waste, the association ‘United against Waste’ with its dedicated managing director Torsten v. Borstel and its more than 100 active members is indispensable,” says Filta managing director Jos van Aalst. “We are very pleased that as a member we can do our part for more sustainability, environmental protection and resource conservation with our mobile fryer service, thanks to which caterers and restaurants save up to 50% of their frying oil.”

Since its founding in 2012, United Against Waste e.V. (UAW) has set an important example in politics and the industry with its commitment against food waste. With now more than 100 active members from the entire out-of-home catering (AHV) sector, UAW has a tremendous amount of expert knowledge.

Over the past ten years, the association has developed various tools, all of which have been tried and tested in practice. Likewise, it purposefully implements projects that show that living climate protection can be simple. UAW has valuable data at its disposal, with more than 750 waste analyses in various plants. These provide the entire industry with orientation and comparison options and help companies to implement value-added solutions.

Filta – full-service mobile fryer management – was founded in 1996 in the UK and operates on a franchise basis. Today Filta is established in many countries around the world and is also active in Germany (since 2015) and Austria (since 2018) with FiltaFry Deutschland GmbH. The concept consists of filtering the cooking oil and on-site fryer cleaning including the professional disposal of waste oil. Upon request, Filta delivers fresh oil and refills the fryers. Furthermore Filta provides additional mobile services: the direct on-site replacement of refrigerator seals and regular, chemical-free drain cleaning, as well as state-of-the-art solutions for grease separation and cleaning of extraction systems. Filta is part of Franchise Brands Group since May 2022.

Customers include restaurants and snack bars, hotels, caterers, sports venues, leisure parks, and company and university canteens among many others. Filta is an active member of the German Franchise Association as well as the Greentable and United against Waste initiatives.
